Geranium x Magnificum

Additional Information:

• Plant is a hybrid developed approximately 1970 as a cross between two species (G. ibericum and G. platypetalum)
• Can also be found as G. ibericum x platypetalum
• Vibrant dark violet-blue flowers with darker blue veins.
• Large flowers - at least 1" or more in diameter
• Loose and spreading clumps that can cover quite a lot of ground
• Clumps are approximately 30 cm (12 inches) in height before flowering
• The plant is sterile so no unwanted seedlings will be found in the garden
• Easily propagated by division

This plant was received into my garden mislabelled. I was expecting a dark pink flowered plant with a small compact growth habit. This is not what I got. But I can't be to upset when I saw this spectacular display early this summer. This plant lives up to its name!

This is a single plant in its second year. Once the flowers fade, the flower stems are cut back and it forms a nice compact plant (30cm or 12 inches in height) in the front of this border.
