Canadian Geranium
& Pelargonium Society

Annual Summer Social

Sunday, July 6, 2008

The summer social took place in Barbara Puchala's garden starting at 1pm. We were very pleased to welcome three guests invited by our members.

The afternoon began with an outing to Phoenix Nursery in Richmond. They have an excellent selection of hardy geraniums as well as many unusual perennials for the garden. Members enjoyed a tour of the garden as well as the opportunity to purchase some additional plants for their garden. We would like to thank Phoenix for their hospitality (and their generous discount to the club members). Everyone agreed that this was something we would like to do again.

After the outing the club members returned Barbara Puchala's garden for food and refreshments. There was an interesting variety of dishes which were thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. Members had a chance to wander the garden and see the numerous geraniums and pelargoniums in bloom.

Emily Budinski reviewed the Project Plants and had several informative comments regarding the care and maintenance of these plants which will be put to good use for the August meeting.

This was a good opportunity to relax and enjoy a pleasant afternoon with like-minded people. It is always an enjoyable time for everyone, and everyone had a great time.

Project Plant "China Red" - things are improving. The bushy one on the left was grown by our newest member, Cathy, who apparently is taking notes at each review and is experiencing the results.
